Alexandre Tharaud

The Tricolour will be flying over Sandvika this September as acclaimed French pianist Alexandre Tharaud takes to the stage in the Main Hall with an all-French piano programme. Expect stylish, refined, sensitive and beautifully crafted performances of music by Couperin, Adam, Gounod, Bizet, Messager, Fauré, Poulenc, Chabrier, Ravel and Debussy.

Many of us had been looking forward to Tharaud's scheduled recital in the Main Hall in March 2026. Unfortunately, the concert had to be cancelled due to sudden illness, but fortunately the busy French pianist has found an opening in his autumn concert schedule.

Tharaud's achievements are remarkable. He performs extensively throughout France and around the world, has released 25 solo albums—most of them recipients of major international critical acclaim—and commands a vast repertoire spanning Couperin, Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Brahms and Rachmaninov, as well as the great French composers of the twentieth century.

 The breadth of his artistic vision is also reflected in his successful collaborations with theatre directors, dancers, choreographers, writers and filmmakers, as well as singer-songwriters and musicians beyond the classical music world.
