Solveig Slettahjell & Andreas Ulvo

Solveig Slettahjell and Andreas Ulvo collaborated for the first time when he was part of her commissioned work for Vossajazz in 2010. Since 2019, Ulvo has been a central part of Slettahjell's quartet, along with bassist Trygve Waldemar Fiske and drummer Pål Hausken.

The quartet released their second album in February 2023 and has recently performed concerts based on their critically acclaimed Scandinavian songbook "Gullokk."

Ulvo and Slettahjell bring this material into the duo format, giving both these songs and others from Slettahjell's core repertoire a new musical form with the playfulness that the duo format invites.

"The small formats have always fascinated me. The openness in these formats provides a very special opportunity to explore the possibilities of collaboration and get to know each other's musicality. I am very impressed by Andreas' penchant for the lyrical and his attentiveness and ability to stretch the musical expression and pursue his own improvisational ideas," says Solveig.
