The Young and Soulful Messiah
Gospel Galla 2024. Three choirs, soloists and orchestra
"The Young and Soulful Messiah" is a popularized version of Handel's powerful oratorio, "Messiah." Several editions of the Young Messiah have emerged since the initial release in the late 1970s. In connection with the 250th anniversary of the original work, a soul- and gospel-inspired version titled "Messiah – A Soulful Celebration" was created, featuring Quincy Jones among others. This concert version draws inspiration from several of these editions, including Handel's powerful choral movements, which are performed by the over 100 choir singers on stage.
