Rohey & Martin Myhre Olsen
A tribute to the legends
Vocalist Rohey Taalah and saxophonist Martin Myhre Olsen have each made a name for themselves in the Norwegian jazz scene over the past decade through various projects, including Gurls, Rohey, Wako, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. Most recently, Taalah performed a beautiful and completely sold-out concert last year during the Oslo Jazz Festival at MUNCH, together with the Trondheim Soloists. Following the concert, the newspaper Dagsavisen reported that Taalah has “one of the country’s strongest voices” and awarded the performance a top rating of five on the dice.
In 2024, Taalah and Myhre Olsen decided to form a duo in which they explore the close connection between saxophone and vocals, and how it is possible to create a complete soundscape using only two instruments.
After an active touring period in 2025, the duo recorded their debut album Homage to Legends, which will be released on August 14 on Jazzland Recordings. This will be celebrated with a release concert the same day at Kulturkirken Jakob during the Oslo Jazz Festival.
The two will perform interpretations of well-known material that is close to Taalah’s heart, in addition to the duo’s own compositions, taking the audience on a rollercoaster of emotions.
