Marit Sandvik & Nova Onda

Although it is a long way from Tromsø to Rio de Janeiro, Marit Sandvik & Nova Onda have embraced the Brazilian music tradition and added their own "nova onda" expression, where playfulness and precision go hand in hand. The band is now on a release tour with a new album!

Frontwoman Marit Sandvik has for many years been regarded as one of the region's most prominent jazz singers and has also received great recognition internationally. Nova Onda consists of musicians known from pop, rock, jazz, and classical music. The band therefore brings a unique blend of grounded, life-giving Brazilian rhythms and European/Nordic jazz, popular music, and world music in an airy, elegant, and personal expression. They appear as soloists as well as part of tightly arranged ensemble sections.
